Messy Church

Yesterday was a tragic day for VA Tech and our nation. Please pray for the injured, the family and friends of those killed, and for this community. We also need to mourn with those who mourn.

This world we live in, unfortunately is not becoming more civilized but more barbaric. There are a lot of messed up people out there. You cannot avoid the mess. We live in a sinful world; a world that is self rather than others centered.

The church can no longer be an institution that believes we can be a good Christian if we can check all the boxes. We cannot just hand out or read a tract to someone and pat ourselves on the back thinking we have done our job. We are the church and God called us to make disciples of all people. He did not tell us how. He told us to love Him and love people. He never told us to love ourselves. That comes naturally. If we love God we must love those he died to save. He gave his life for messed up people (I am thankful for that). We can do more than read a tract to a stranger. We can develop relationships with people. Even hurting people. It's messy. It will make church messy. But Jesus entered a messy world and died a messy death for messy people. Lets get our hands dirty.
